Typing Accuracy Tips

This guide explains how to reduce typing errors and build reliable accuracy before chasing higher WPM. ztyping games are free to play, improve typing speed and accuracy, and require no download.

Why Accuracy Comes First

Every uncorrected typo costs more time than typing slightly slower with clean keystrokes. Accuracy training builds the muscle memory that makes speed sustainable.

Five Accuracy Habits

  1. Look at the screen, not the keyboard. If you must peek, reset to home row (ASDF / JKL;) after each glance until peeks become rare.
  2. Type common words as whole units. Drill high-frequency words ("the", "and", "with") until your fingers move together instead of letter-by-letter.
  3. Slow down on punctuation and capitals. Enable case sensitivity and punctuation in Custom Text when you are ready for harder material.
  4. Pause instead of backspacing mid-word. Finish the word incorrectly, delete it cleanly, then retype. Rushed mid-word corrections create bad patterns.
  5. Review your error patterns. Notice whether you miss shifts, swap adjacent letters, or stumble on specific keys — then target those in short drills.
